Rasco Mason Contractors

Our History

Masonry is deep rooted in the Schroeder family with Dietrich N. Schroeder dating back to the 1850’s in Germany. His son, Heinrich (Henry) D. Schroeder, moved to Chicago, IL from Germany in 1926 and started his own masonry business. Rudolph (Rudy) A. Schroeder, Henry’s son, began work for Henry when he returned from World War II. From there, Rudy continued to learn and started R.A. Schroeder Company in 1951. Mark R. Schroeder was born in 1955 and grew up in Morton Grove, IL. Mark gave up many college scholarships for football to sign on with R.A. Schroeder Company and continue to grow the company with his father. In 1988, Mark incorporated the company under the name of Rasco Mason Contractors with the hopes to continue to grow his father’s business. Rudy finally retired at the age of 76 in 1997.

In 2006, Chris Clauser joined the team and brought along new practices to update our business and push us into the 21st century. Chris’ two brothers, Matt and Eric, have also signed on and are now all considered to be family. In 2013, Mark’s daughter Shannon also joined the team. This makes the Schroeder family 4th generation contractor and 5th generation mason.
